PEPPER AND HIS SENSES
Pepper is fully able to function in his environment thanks to a 3D camera and two HD cameras. The i mages are processed by software that is capable of identifying shapes and faces. Pepper can also discern movements and recognize our emotions. When you’re happy, Pepper will share your joy. And when you’re sad, he’ll do his to comfort you.
HEARING AND CONVERSATION
The four microphones on Pepper’s head allow him to identify where the person is, to communicate with them, and also to identify the emotions transmitted in their voice.
Feel free to tell Pepper about what’s currently interesting you. He is directly connected to the Internet and so can share the latest updates with you. And he can use his own tablet to help you make selections, to demonstrate new items and information, and to express various opinions.
MOVEMENT AND AUTONOMY
You’ll be surprised at Pepper’s natural fluidity and flexibility. His smooth and precise movements are controlled by about 20 motors, and his wheels enable him to move in any direction at a speed of 3km per hour. Pepper can maintain his balance, recognize people and obstacles, and so minimize the risk of collision. And on top of all that, he is equipped with a high–capacity battery, so he can entertain you continuously for up to 12 hours. If his battery dies, you can recharge him easily with a portable charger.
NETWORK OF SENSORS
Pepper has multiple sensors: two ultrasound transmitters and receivers, six laser sensors, and three obstacle detectors in his “legs”. These sensors provide him with information about his surroundings. Another sensor in his battery indicates its level of charge and its temperature. Pepper also has sensors on his hands, which he uses for social interaction.
